The honorable Indian army selects candidates for Officer Rank and JCO/OR. Those who are up to serve the nation can apply for this exam. The selection of candidates to serve army will be based on permanent commission or short service commission. Officer rank exam makes initial selection for the post of lieutenant and JCO is subedar.
Eligibility criteria –
To join India army you can qualify any of these exams
- TES entry: – It has a direct joining provision, it doesn’t conduct written examination. You need to apply directly on website of Join Indian Army.
- NDA entry: – UPSC conducted this exam twice in a year. It is a three tier selection process having a written exam followed by an SSB interview and physical test.
- CDS Entrance Exam- This is also conducted by UPSC for graduate/undergraduate candidates followed by SSB interview.
Educational qualification –
Candidates must have passed 10+2 Examination or its equivalent from recognized education boards with an aggregate of 70% marks in PCM (Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics) can apply.

Age limit –
- For officer rank- 21- 27years (limit may vary according to the post code)
- For JCO/OR- 16 ½ to 19 ½
